The blood is rushing to your head again and you can feel your throat tighten up and the tears start to come and you’re not quite sure why but you know how to stop it.

You take a deep breath of fresh air followed by a deep breath of smoke, because maybe it lets the anxiety flow out of your body in the exhale, or maybe the idea of self destruction is beautiful to you, or maybe it allows you to take control of at least one thing in your life, but maybe it’s just cool

You scream something beautiful, or vulgar, or both, and you don’t care who hears it (but hopefully not kids, because you are a role model) (that is important)

You think about what else is important, and who else is important, and you realize there are literally thousands of people who care about your every move and are interested in you as a human, and maybe some day that number will be in the millions.

You worry because you’ve forgotten to call an old friend again, but you know you always can and you know you love each other

And you know things will get better because John Darnielle says they will

And you think that maybe not only will things get better but maybe they’re not so bad right now,

Because Sam Raimi is remaking Evil Dead and it might even be good (fingers crossed) (knock on wood) (if superstition counts for anything)

Because you’ve woken up and the one you love may not be sleeping next to you but there’s a one you love and they’re sleeping 200 miles away and you can hear them breathe

Because you live in a time where you can be you and you can be safe being you and there will be people who will say that’s not true but you know and are constantly reminded that the world isn’t that cold and it’s getting warmer, and warmer every day

Because you are surrounded by love and every look of disgust or distaste from whoever or whatever is countered by a look that betrays any words and says love in it’s purest form (maybe it’s from him) (but there are so many people who give you that look) (and that’s so good)

It gets lonely and it gets hard and it’s always so exhausting but every unit of work you put in will come back to you tenfold

The blood begins to flow naturally in your body and you take another breath of fresh air, followed by another breath of smoke (because you know why)

You scream something beautiful or vulgar or both, and you want everyone to hear (except children)

There’s a look on your face that betrays the fact that you’re overwhelmed with warmth and you’re filled with love

And everything is going to be ok, but everything’s pretty ok right now
